After several rounds of group interviews, auditions, and  a test run in Kennedy Dining Hall, the winner of the  Winston-Salem State  2010-2011 Campus M.C.,  Brandon Wainright, was chosen.

Wainright, also known  around campus as  "Kahlorado," said his initial reaction to receiving   confirmation that he won the role was excitement and relief that all of his hard work and dedication was finally beginning to pay off.

Wainright is a native of Colorado Springs.

"I think I was selected because interacting with students comes naturally to me, and I'm multicultural," Wainright said.

"[It's] an image I feel WSSU wants to reach to non-traditional students."

This year, another M.C. position was added.

Occasionally, Wainright a sophomore, will be joined by sophomore Kelsey Mobley, the first female to serve as a campus M.C.  She is from Gastonia.

"I'm excited about the upcoming school year, and what Kahlorado and I can do for the campus," Mobley said.

"I think we can bring something different and motivate the students to take pride in their school."

Joevan Palmer, chair for public relations of the Campus Life Marketing Committee, said the committee knew right away that the two would make a great hosting pair.

"Kahlorado and Kelsey both brought incredible energy, with no insecurities and were both very lively and comedic," Palmer said.

"They had the stage presence we were looking for."

The former "Campus M.C." Ray Johnson, better known as ‘Mr. Breezeway' graduated in December 2009.

"I met Ray at a Mozik function, and he told me about the [M.C.] position," Wainright said.

"I had no idea he was graduating.

"I auditioned because I knew it would expose me to people similar to me but who weren't confident enough to be in front of a crowd."

Kahlorado has been very busy since he has become the new M.C.

He has hosted the WSSU Athletic Booster Bash, the CLMC Ball, the 2010 Hip-Hop Summit, and the 2010 Rammie Awards.

He insists, however, that next year, is when the real fun will begin.

Kahlorado and Kelsey's contracts start in August, and the duo,  both mass communication majors, say they  are ready to host a radio show, and a television segment similar to BET's "106 and Park."

Step shows,  Homecoming events and other campus  activities  will have the pair busy throughout the next year.

"I don't want to be Mr. Breezeway.  That's Ray's title," Wainright said.

"I can only be Kahlorado, but I guarantee you'll get 110 percent out of me as "Campus M.C.," and you'll always be entertained."
