"Sins of My Father" written by Shaunta Morris and Desiree Madden, brings a new twist to an all too common story of betrayal, redemption, self love, and the power of keeping the faith. When Destiny meets Anthony all seems well until a dark secret kept by Anthony's mother and Destiny's late father threatens to tear them apart and change their lives forever.

Chardonnay Kingston has it all; looks, charm, and money but she harbors secrets of years of abuse by her father, Charles Kingston. After the sudden death of her mother, Chardonnay begins to struggle in school and her personal life begins to take a turn for the worst. As secrets continue to come out the small community is faced with challenges that no one could have ever expected.

The play is centered around homecoming, and as the characters' lives begin to unravel around them, they must still continue to find a way to make homecoming memorable. The musical selections in the production were excellent, and they were led by some of WSSU's most talented musicians. I thought the actors took their roles seriously, and I believed the chemistry of the cast was evident on stage.

Overall, the production was well written, each character was complex, and the story was one that will definitely be memorable. Sins of My Father, although based on fictitious events, dealt with real life issues such as morality and redemption that people face on an everyday basis. This soul-stirring production was relatable, witty, and it transcended age old boundaries.
