Wow, when I graduated I did not need tickets (May 5, 2005)...I'm so thankful becauseI had over 30 people at my graduation...Lord I'm thankful I did not have to make the hard decision of who to invite!

I agree george. theses are old out-dated facts. we should donate more, we should talk about what we donate, how we donate living or near death and dying... useless facts in the newspaper story

This is such a wonderful and gracious gesture by the Bennet College students. I'ts inspirational. The reporter wrote a good story.

And I needed to make one CRITICAL correction...you say in the article there are one thousand people on the waiting list...I assume you MEANT to say over one hundred thousand...!! Currently, 117,000 are on the National Wait List...so, thats 29% of THAT number, for African Americans...not 29% of 1000.

To the Staff Reporter et al....As an African American, and one that has had a kidney transplant for over 37 years, and one thats been VERY active with Donate Life Maryland and the two OPO's in Maryland and the DC region, I find a bit of fault with your article....I think that you've missed several facts that could put a different light on this topic of Organ and Tissue donation. YES, we DO donate at a lesser rate than other groups, BUT, we donate at TWICE our population rate, and, considering the mistrust of the medical field many African Americans STILL have, our donation rate is outstanding. And YES, there is a large number of African Americans choosing not to donate, and I am sad about that, BUT, there is also a large number of other minority groups and Caucasians choosing not to donate, as well...
Finally...the comments you are stating are OLD facts...nothing NEW was in this article. I think that, at THIS point, we, as African Americans, ought to be discussing how we can CHANGE our donate rate, not just repeat statistics known for 20 years...

Robbie is my fave Marley because he is unique and that takes a lot of bravery, but cutting off his dreads was good and it took a lot of courage, knowing how many Rasta's are judgemental bad!
I am so glad that he is different than the rest. Quite the man.
