Planning on running off campus for a late night snack? When you return, have your Ram Card out and ready to be checked by campus police.
Security checks were implemented in fall 2011 to decrease incidents on campus.

"We had several shootings on campus that were occurring late nights," said Patricia Norris, director and chief of police.
"As a result of these incidents, Chancellor Reaves wanted us [campus police] to think about ways we could make the campus more secure."
The security checkpoints are set up in two locations: the campus entrance on Cromartie Street and the entrance to the Anderson Center.
Norris said that since the implementation of the security checks, problems that had been occurring at the Pit -- altercations between students and locals -- have decreased.
During summer 2011, gates were installed to control access to campus at the entrances on Vargrave Street and Reynolds Park Road.
Norris said officers are positioned at the two security checkpoints.
Norris said most of the problems were occurring where cars could drive straight through the campus and go to resident halls.
"We figured if we blocked off Reynolds Park Road, and have everyone come through
