General Information
The News Argus began as the Teachers College Informer, which commenced publication in 1938.
In 1962, the TC Informer, as it came to be known, held a contest for students to rename the newspaper. After much deliberation, the paper was changed to The News Argus.
The Argus, a character from Greek Mythology was a 100-eyed monster, or a watchful guardian, who even in his sleep could have eyes open to keep guard.
The year 2002 marked the 40th anniversary of The News Argus. By 2003 the paper changed again with a redesign and the creation of thenewsargus.com. In the fall of 2006, the paper, once a monthly publication, became a bi-weekly publication. The News Argus is now a weeky publication.
The News Argus is produced by students of the WSSU Mass Communications Department.
Offices are located in the Hall Patterson Communications Building in suite 102.
