‘Always Watching’ Editorials: “Writing a memorable history”

“History can not give us a program for the future, but it can give us a fuller understanding of ourselves, and of our common humanity, so that we can better face the future.” -Robert Penn Warren

History is something of great interest to me. I love learning those “little-known” moments and facts about any topic.

Reading, listening and living history opens the mind and the heart.

New technology, new monuments, new songs and even new words are constantly created. But I often wonder, are we writing a memorable history?

The songs we sing have less meaning, and we put more value on things that do not matter.

I am truly a lover of old school music and the classics that are timeless.

I’m an “ol’ soul” as many would say, and I worry less about the frivolous things of the moment but making my mark in history is my goal.

I hope that everyone will make their mark in history by voting on Nov. 4 to elect a leader who will make positive changes. This election, more than ever, is one for the history books.

We of The News Argus believe in making history. We have completely changed the design of our student newspaper, and this time the change will have a lasting effect. It is my hope by sharing our history-making with you it will be all the more memorable.
