The Winston-Salem State University Choir traveled to overseas Nov. 4 through Nov. 12 to perform new music by composer Julius P. Williams with the renowned Dvorak Symmphony Orchestraa (DSO) of Prague in the Czech Republic. They culminated in performances in full concert with DSO, including recording a compact disc. D’Walla Burke, Director of Choirs and Coordinator of Vocal Studies, offered her insight on the once-in-a-lifetime international adventure, “The students did extremely well…musically and behavorially…with such charisma.” “This is the first opportunity for WSSU to take on an international tour. The students received an education, they could not get in a classroom.” Burke says that the experience offers multiple opportunities for the WSSU choir.
