New series combines comedy, party chaos

Comedian Adam Devine brings the funny to Comedy Central once again with his new show, “Adam Devine’s House Party.”

The self-proclaimed “beer-pong fanatic,” and star of “Workaholics” said coming up with the idea for his new show was easy because he’s been known to throw a house party…or two.

“We’ve [Devine and “Workaholics” co-stars Blake Anderson and Kyle Newacheck] had house parties forever because, before we got this show [“Workaholics”], we were too broke to go out to bars,” he said.

Devine said his craziest house-party moments include running from the cops and being charged with 22 counts of serving alcohol to minors.

Devine said his show is a mashup of parties he’s been to.

He said working with Comedy Central again is great because, “They don’t care that I like to smoke weed and drink booze while I work.”

The series combines scripted television with stand-up comedy to create a new type of show.

For those who think Devine is simply a comedian, you are sadly mistaken.

The Iowa native is both creator and writer for “Workaholics” and “Adam Devine’s House Party.”

He’s come a long way since his days as “pezman08” on AOL Instant Messenger.

“I had a weird Pez collection. I was like in the hospital as a kid.

“One person brought me a Pez dispenser and I was in the hospital like, ‘I like this. This is cool,’…so I ended up having like 500 Pez.”

     Three words to describe Devine?

“Bodacious, radical and gnar,” he said.

“Yeah, humble wasn’t one of them.”

The series features several up-and-coming comedians.
