The law has finally caught up with Mabel “Madea” Simmons, played by Tyler Perry.
Joshua, a prosecutor (Derek Luke) struggles to help an old friend Candy (Keisha Knight Pulliam) get out of prostitution. While Joshua tries to get Candy back on the right path, his fiancée Linda (Viola Davis) is not too keen on the idea. Madea and Candy eventually end up in jail together, and the audience gets to see the two plots merge. Although the movie is very funny at times, as most Tyler Perry films are, Madea has a small role. The ending could have been put together better and should have been elongated. Overall, it is a fun film. I give “Madea Goes to Jail” two cents. The actors did well playing out their roles. |

Tyler Perry adds another hit to his collection of must see movies. In “Madea Goes to Jail,” Perry does a good job of telling the audience two stories.
In the first storyline, Madea is at it again with her wit, strong-minded personality and carefree attitude. This attitude catches up to her. The second storyline is about Joshua who intends on getting married, until his past life catches up with him. Joshua sees a childhood friend, Candy, who fell into a life of prostitution and ends up in jail. The two storylines intersect when Madea and Candy become inmates. Perry continues with his same theme from past movies and uses faith and religion incorporated with comedy. I give “Madea Goes to Jail” four cents. |
