The Winston-Salem State Athletic Department today announced a change in the 2009 Homecoming schedule. The kickoff time for the homecoming game versus Hampton University, Oct. 31, has been changed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
According to a press release, the reason for the change was to avoid time conflicts with the other homecoming games for North Carolina A&T State and North Carolina Central University.
Tonia Walker, WSSU Interim Director of Athletics, said the department explored all possible alternatives, such as moving homecoming to another weekend but decided to move the kickoff time to 4 p.m.
“We explored all possible alternatives, including moving homecoming to another weekend, but after extensive discussion we have decided to keep WSSU’s homecoming on Oct 31 and move the kickoff time to 4 p.m.,” Walker said.
“The time change is an effort to yield the best possible experience for our students, athletes, fans and supporters.”
