FAMU Beats WSSU 6-1

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Winston-Salem State Rams (14-11) closed out the month with a tough 6-1 loss to the Florida A&M Rattlers (10-26), on March 30.

After staging a pair of seventh inning rallies in Tuesday doubleheader, the Rams couldn’t muster the magic in Sunday’s single game against the Rattlers.

As a team, the Rams totaled just four hits in the loss with WSSU freshman Bonika Terry leading the way going two-for-two from the plate. Freshman catcher Kayla Woodbury was one-for-three from the plate with the sole RBI of the game.

Fielding errors plagued the Rams in the loss with FAMU scoring just one earned run in the game. As a team, the Rams totaled seven errors in the loss. A wild pitch allowed the first FAMU score of the day in the second inning, while a fielding error allowed a pair of Rattler scores in the third inning.

The Rams scored their sole run of the game in the sixth inning when a Woodbury single allowed freshman outfielder Candace Spinks to score. Fielding errors continued to plague the Rams as FAMU would score three more unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and seal the loss for WSSU.
