The Registered Organizations Council will be without one of its most important members, Steve Stephens.
Stephens, former Student Activities associate director, left in March.
“The loss of such a leader will be a huge blow,” said Jonathan Jackson a management information systems major form Charlotte.
Jackson is also the vice president of External Affairs and SGA President-elect.
“He [Stephens] developed a structure that is easy to follow so the new members of ROC can follow the guidelines and build upon them,” Jackson said.
“The adviser has not yet been determined but the Office of Student Activities is looking into it.
Dale Williams, director of Student Activities will be the acting adviser until the position is permanently filled.”
In the meantime, ROC is planning to host community service events, programs and forums for campus organizations.
Next fall, ROC will been helping students at Carver High School with SAT preparation.
At the end of the year, ROC will evaluate the campus organizations to determine if they have made any progress during the year.
If an organization is active for one year it will continue to receive funding from ROC, pending approval of the vice chancellor of Campus Life, Theo Howard.
