The Homecoming theme for this year was “Operation Code Red” which will included a weeks worth of activities for students, alumni and the local community.
The celebration kicked off Oct. 19 with House II, the gospel play featuring Stephanie Drake of Tyler Perry Madea’s Class Reunion, Bishop John Health of the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, Stellar Award winner DeWayne Woods and many more. The play took place in K.R. Williams Auditorium.
Homecoming highlights included the crowning of Mister WSSU Theodis Chunn and Miss WSSU Latoya Perry, the parade, and the football game on Oct. 25. The Rams (1-5) took on the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats (4-2).
This year’s grand marshall was alumna Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin, the wife of the late Mr. Marvtastic, Larry Leon Hamlin, founder and artistic director of the N.C. Black Repertory Company.
