Lady Rams lose to Wofford Terriers in volleyball

The Winston-Salem State University Volleyball team came up short in the final home game of the season Nov. 8 against The Wofford Terriers. The scoreboard showed the final outcome, but it could not display the uncanny effort displayed by the Rams as they played against a nationally ranked Division 1 squad. Wofford won by a score of 3-0 (30-27, 31-29, 30-14). In the first period of play, it was a back-and-forth matchup until the final serves. The second period was filled with a seesaw battle in which the Rams would not let the Terriers get away easily. The round also went into extra serves. Third and final was all Wofford as they jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back. The Rams were led by Ciera Simpson and Kendall Sutton, who had nine kills in the match. Wofford was led by Lindsay Richardson’s match-high 14 kills as she and Courtney Gregory, who had10 kills, each recorded double-digit kills in the win. This loss placed the Rams volleyball team at 2-29. WSSU rounded up the season with action on Saturday, Nov. 11, as they faced Maryland Eastern-Shore.
