Students shout take advantage of area businesses’ discounts

With gas prices steadily rising, student’s pockets are feeling the pinch. But here are five ways to save a little money by taking advantage of your student discounts around Winston-Salem:

1. Oumy African Hair Braiding, located on 537 N. Liberty St, offers discounts of up to 20 percent for college students. HAIR PIZAZZ at 545 N. Trade St. is also another place where students can get discounts on hair care, as well as some of the best and most current hairstyles.

2. For cheap eats try Bear Rock Cafe at 205 S. Stratford Road. There, you’ll get 10 percent off with a student ID. If you want to grab a bite and hang out for some conversation, try Bits and Bytes Coffee Shop at 101 W. 4th St. It also offers a 10 percent student discount. And, last but not least, Buffalo Wild Wings, or as we all know it BW3’s, at 1045 Hanes Mall Blvd. features a 10 percent discount to college students, not too mention its famous “30 Cent Wing Tuesday’s,” which is guaranteed to send you and your wallet home full. Other eateries that provide 10 percent student discounts include Church’s Chicken, Bojangles, and Burger King.

3. If you are one of the unfortunate people still looking for housing, or if you are thinking about moving off-yard next semester or even next year, there are some great discounts in the area for housing. Crown Oaks, Crown Park, and Crown Polo are offering a deal where you get $150 off the first month’s rent. Northcliffe Apartments is waving the deposit, application, and administrative fee with approved credit for college students.

4. Next on the list – fitness. As college students, we all have to look and feel good. The YMCA and YWCA both offer 10 percent off their one-year memberships for college students. Gold’s Gym is also offering a discount off its enrollment fee for a one-year membership. And, when you need to relax, Inspired Day Salon, 4956 Monte Vista St., and the Sixth Sense Day Spa, 1012 Brookstown Ave., both offer 20 percent discounts on all services to students.

5. Jeans, Fitted Hats, Handbags, Stilettos, Jordan’s –everyone has to have them. The question is “Where can we get stylish, current clothes for a decent price?” Hanes Mall offers a multitude of student discounts from electronics to earrings. Another great store that lets ladies make the most of student discounts is Rainbow, which offers 10 percent off its clothes to students with an ID.
