Lady Rams defeat JCSU, FSU and Livingstone but fall to NCCU and SAC

The Winston-Salem State University women’s bowling team finished out three days of CIAA bowling action recently at Countryside Lanes in Kernersville with a cumulative record of 10-5 after posting a 3-2 record in Sunday’s Baker Match format competition. The Lady Rams started out the morning with a 2-1 loss to the Lady Falcons of St. Augustine’s College as they won the first game 142-119 before dropping the next two matches 139-140 and 132-160. WSSU then reeled off three straight match wins over the Lady Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University 2-1 (147-137; 138-230; 164-118), Livingstone College 2-1 (125-126, 192-126, 178-141) and Fayetteville State 2-1 (150-191; 190-151, 213-181). To close the day, the Lady Rams fell to North Carolina Central 1-2 as the Lady Eagles won the first game 154-176 and the second game 145-155 of the match before the Lady Rams snuck out a victory in the final game 154-115. With their 10-5 overall record, the Lady Rams placed behind only the Lady Broncos of Fayetteville State University who recorded a CIAA-best 13-2 record overall. WSSU returned to action Oct. 22 in Raleigh at AMF Capital Lanes as they began the first of three days of CIAA bowling competition in the CIAA Bowling Round-Up versus the Eastern Division.
