Valentine’s Day is for everyone

By Georgina Wilsonargus reporterAs the seasons progress, flirting, conversation and relationships progress. Valentine’s Day, the day of love, is steadily progressing and many people are trying to find that special someone to spend that day with.Conversations about plans for Valentine’s Day may include going to a Valentine’s Day Social out to eat, going to the movies, exchanging sentimental gifts, or if you want to get real romantic, having a candlelight dinner by a cozy lit fire. Other conversations may spark about asking that special guy or girl that you have been checking out all semester for that special date. But some people may completely disagree that Valentine’s Day is the day of love. Some people may choose to spend that day alone watching a movie, eating dinner alone, and buying themselves flowers. On the other hand I think that all Winston Salem State students can agree that there are some things that you can do to make that day extra special or complete disaster. A variety of different students were asked what they thought some of their Valentines Dos and Don’ts and this is what some of them said. But men and women have a lot of advice for the opposite sex for some dos and don’ts on Valentine’s Day.April Royster, a sophomore occupational therapy major, said, “Don’t ditch your girl on Valentine’s Day to hang with your boys then use the excuse, ‘I was just chillin.’Brandi Little, a junior mass communications major, said, “Don’t tell someone you getting them a gift, and you really aren’t. If yo’reu broke onValentine’s Day just say you’re broke the first time. Then they won’t ask.” Jihan Gray, asophomore computer graphics major, said, “Pamper your girl on Valentine’s Day! Burn candles, play romantic music, and rub her from head to toe.” Mannie Love, a freshman computer science major, said, “To all the ladies: Don’t always expect dinner, going to the movies, and to get 50 million things for Valentine’s Day. Just want to spend time with the person you care about. You can have a nice, romantic Valentine’s Day without gifts or even leaving the house. Gerry Fontaine, a senior mass communications major, said, “If you tell your man that you don’t want nothing for Valentine’s Day, and he gets you something anyway, then he really loves you more than you think.”
