Feb. 14 tends to be a day set aside for those lovers in all of us. A time for us to get with our significant other and confess our undying love for one another, right? Yeah, right. Although this day is used for purposes such as those stated above, we have to remember that not everyone has a Valentine. It can be very difficult for some of us that our romantically challenged, while others cope with the holiday like it is just another day.It would be a little bit easier to survive Valentine’s Day if everywhere you went wasn’t adorned with red and pink hearts, “I Love You” Teddy bears, flowers, balloon bouquets and “Be Mine” candies.Here listed below are a few tips on how to survive Valentine’s Day without making your relatives your Valentines. Let’s face it: Having your mother and father as your “Valentine” is completely different than having the boy next door or the girl in your English class. Tips on how to survive V-Day being single: 1.Refer to Valentine’s Day, as February 14 for starters, it doesn’t put the focus so much on Valentine’s Day. 2. Get with your favorite single friends and have a night of fun. Optional things to do can include watching movies, baking cookies, going to shoot some hoops with the fellas, or whatever else floats your boat. 3.Take yourself out to eat to your favorite restaurant and celebrate another day of living. While your out, make fun of the mushy couples making eyes at each other or acting like they are “so in love.”4. If you don’t feel the need to be around other people, grab your favorite book, listen to some music, and spend time with your favorite person: YOU. 5. Sit in front of the television and watch the slasher flick, Valentine. I’m absolutely sure this movie puts a twist on Valentine’s Day. 6. Go out with a friend whom you have interest in. Although you all might not be in the sappy mushy stage, you never know what is in store for the two of you. Don’t worry too much. Valentine’s Day won’t be too bad. Like Scarlet O’ Hara said in Gone With the Wind, “After all, tomorrow is another day.”
