April is full of great events

This month, numerous events will take place on campus. Things kicked off this week with Greek Week. Each sorority and fraternity had a day, starting Monday and ending today. Friday will be capped off with a Step Show and after-party. Also this week was the Miss WSSU contest.Both the tennis and softball teams are competing. The next home games for the softball team are today versus JCSU and Friday against NCCU. The following weeks are filled with a wide range of events. On April 12, there are four events taking place. First and foremost is College Hip-Hop Fest, also known as Black College Weekend at Kings Dominion. Black College Weekend is an exhilarating event that brings together numerous HBCU students from all over. Even though the ticket price is $42, the turnout is always outstanding. The park opens at 10 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. Some of the events going on during the day are a Greek Step Show, two concerts (2 p.m. and 6 p.m.), and a DJ battle.The second event is the Senior Art Expo in Diggs Gallery. This will be open for two weeks. This is a chance for senior art majors to showcase their work and talent. Thirdly, the Crimson and Cream Ball sponsored by the Deltas will take place in the Anderson Center. The event is from 8 p.m. to midnight and tickets are $10 for singles and $15 for couples. The proceeds will go to a child who is suffering from stomach cancer. Open House will also be taking place during this weekend for prospective students to see what WSSU has to offer.Later on, there will be a Sigma Ball on the 26th in the Anderson Center and a Modeling Showcase on the 25th in K.R. Williams. This is a showcase is sponsored by Allieu Kamara, Geno Herron and J.R. Brown. This showcase will bring some of the top modeling troops in the area. The troops attending are Black Millennium from Fayetteville State, FaiSho from JCSU, Next Level from Livingston College, Couture from N.C. A&T, and Mozik and Epiphany from WSSU.
